There are countless benefits from matcha to justify treating yourself to an iced green tea latte. I used to order these at Starbucks, thinking it was a guilt-free drink, but when I started working there I realized the ingredients in their “matcha” was primarily sugar. This recipe tastes 10xs better too. If you’re new to matcha use less & if you like things on the sweeter side add equal parts organic cane sugar to matcha.
Health Benefits:
- antioxidants (anti-aging)
- boosts metabolism
- detoxifies
- calming
- fiber & chlorophyll
- prevents disease
- lowers cholesterol & blood sugar
Instructions: Soak your cashews for up to 24 hours. If you have a high-speed blender like a Vitamix, you can get away with soaking them for less time (30 min.). Take 1 cup of hot water & mix in matcha powder & set aside. Add all other ingredients to blender and blend on high. If you do not have a high-speed blender you will need to use a cheesecloth before adding the matcha, to drain the bigger chunks of cashews out of the milk.
